What guests have said about Casa Suzana

The wife and I have been to the Mayan Riviera 7 times, but never to Cozumel. We decided it was time to try the Island. We could not have picked a better place for a week in Paradise than the Casa Susana Villa in the outskirts of Cozumel.

The Villa itself is gorgeous, clean and inviting. There are 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, all with AC and all very comfortable. You have your own private pool just outside the Master Bedroom on the first floor. We used it MANY times in between our sojourns around the island and for afternoon cocktails! (water temp was always between 84-89 degrees!)

The Property Managers Rodrigo and Amber could not have been more helpful and became our friends and "trip advisors". They live here and know ALL the good restaurants and places to see. They never steered us wrong once. We even walked to a neighborhood restaurant for dinner the first night and had fabulous seafood! Rodrigo laid out the cities roads and showed hoe easy it could be to find what you want with just the address.

The villa itself has everything you need to eat in with full service kitchen, living room a cable TV with hook-up everywhere. Plus, you request when you want the maids and pool service folks to come in so their work doesn't conflict with your stay. They did an excellent job cleaning and making us feel at home.

I can not say enough positive things about Casa Susana, the Villa and Cozumel itself. We felt safe, welcomed and at home everywhere we went. The Mexican people are a true pleasure to vacation with and we will return (hopefully many times) to Casa Susana in Cozumel.

TIPS: Rent a car. Everyday there are MANY scooter accidents and it is not worth the bother. We rented a small 4-door VW GOL (yes...GOL., not golf) and it was wonderful...easy on the gas with AC and permitted us to roam the entire Island carefree. We paid slightly under $50 per day but if you can forgo AC, you can get a vehicle in the $30-40 range per day. We rented from the nice folks at ISIS Rentals.

You MUST take the trip around the Island and visit the beaches on the "other side" of the Island. Yes, some areas are rocky and reefy but there are some gorgeous beaches if you stay patient and look for them. The ocean water is simply fabulous and warm.

If you've never eaten Lionfish, you're missing one of the world's greatest tasting white fish. Make sure you find La Perlita on a Thursday night (2 for 1 Lionfish dishes).

Visit the downtown square on Sunday nights. It starts going strong after 9pm. The town comes out to celebrate, dance and listen to great local music.

A perfect location on the island ~ so we enjoyed Casa Suzana. Cozumel has great beaches, good silver shopping and wonderful people. Loved taking cooking lessons.

Enjoyed a wonderful week. Beautiful house close to the tide pools. Great amenities, like the pool. Delicious churros delivered to the gate. Great restaurant recommendations, too.

This was my first time staying at Casa Suzana + I had a wonderful time! Perfect for divers - not too far from Caleta + there's a rinse tank at the house. Love all the room + decor in the house. Can't wait to come back very soon!

This was our sixth stay at Casa Suzana . . . and it just gets better all the time! We always feel right at home here with the amenities that are provided. There are many touristy things to do, however we really enjoy exploring the local flavor with the Sunday Night gathering in the town square for music and festivities. And we especially like trying out many of the restaurants through out the various neighborhoods that offer very local fare at exceptional prices. And of course snorkeling, snorkeling and more snorkeling . . . there is always something new to see under the surface! We are not dive people . . . but we hear it is fabulous and we did notice the deep dive tank tub and drying bodega provided at the house for cleaning and drying scuba equipment. Spending a relaxing afternoon floating in the pool is sooooooooooo nice! But our favorite activity to enjoy is a trip to the seashore to watch the magnificent sunsets! And if you are looking for something very special plan your visit during the Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras) time of year. Until we meet again!!!

I was at Casa Suzana with LizzyC and she said it all, and much better than I could. What a great place to vacation with old friends. The house is fantastic and Cozumel has something for us all. One thing that I would like to mention is that we have never felt anything but safe while there. Friends questioned a Mexican vacation and I told them Cozumel is very tourist-friendly and family oriented. We stroll the neighborhood at night without hesitation, before a dip in the pool before bed. I look forward to our next trip!

Just wanted to say how much I love staying in this lovely home and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great vacation. This past spring was my third visit to Casa Suzana, and as always, it was a perfect get-away. While we love going o the great local restaurants, we loved even more to being able to shop at the local grocery stores so all meals are not eaten out. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything needed for a meal preparation. The included daily maid service makes it a carefree vacation. On my last visit I was finishing up two college courses and the included wireless internet access was very reliable…it’s a great place for those who need to stay in touch with work but need to get- away. For me and my friends relaxation was what it was all about. It is heavenly to be able to sit in the very private yard near the pool and read or swim. There are many options for entertainment available for the times we wanted more action and there are so many places to snorkel. But it’s the convenient location of Casa Suzana in a great neighborhood that made us really feel immersed in the culture. The house is spotless with much love and care taken with the decorating. This vacation home is the perfect spot to get away and so much more affordable than staying at the resorts. Cozumel has so much to offer. A stay this lovely home always makes me relaxed. Looking forward to next year!

This was our third stay, as a group, in your most gracious house . . . and it was Outstanding! We love the location which is close to shopping, restaurants, grocery and of course the water. We were seven in number this time and I loved the idea that each bedroom has it's own bath so there was no long 'waits' for anyone to get ready in the morning, as well as it's own television. The house was well equipped with everything you could imagine and more! The staff was attentive and responsive to any questions or needs we had. And to have them meet us up at the airport was such a nice introduction to the lovely Island of Cozumel. Having the option of daily maid service as well as meal preperation made us feet like we were in a Five Star Hotel! Wether is was an 'around the island' tour (don't miss Mescalito's and Coconuts for lunch and drinks), searching the shops in town for the best deal on Original Mexican Vanilla and then 'negotiating' with the locals, or just peacefuly relaxing by the secluded pool and watching the clouds drift by and the wildlife too . . . it is our most favorite house to be at in Cozumel . . . you truly feel like you are 'at home away from home'. Even the sunsets from the second floor balcony and our star gazing nights were just magical! We hope to return for MANY future visits! Thanks for helping us make such wonderful 'memories' in your special home!!!

The property is fantastic! We have returned to this house for a few years and couldn't be happier. Everyone on staff is delightful and also willing to assist with any questions or problems that might arise. The house is ideally located between town and the international pier as well as grocery and retail shopping and has many restaurants all within walking distance. We have stayed at other properties in Cozumel and are always thrilled when we can stay at here. I would highly recommend it on your next visit to Cozumel.

We had an AWESOME time at Casa Suzana. Rest assured, we will be coming back to Cozumel again someday, and we will definitely stay with you guys again. The service was outstanding, the house was great, and we had no problems. Thanks again for a great place!

Mark & Tracy, 2009-Mar-16 (from Scubaboard):

We were travelling with my elderly parents and a nephew for a total of 6 people, half divers and half not. My folks are cheap^H^H^H^H^frugal and didn't want to rent multiple hotel rooms. We considered a waterfront condo, but didn't relish hauling gear up and down the elevator.

Arrangements were fairly easy to deal with by email and mail. We had to mail in a cheque for the deposit and half the rental to confirm the reservation, and the remainder a few weeks prior to arrival. The deposit was returned by mail a couple of weeks after we returned. Things couldn't have been much simpler. Email communication was through and informative.

Casa Suzana is located in the Corpus Christi neighborhood. The street is relatively quiet, even during Carnaval, except early in the morning when the propane truck comes by blaring its jingle. It has one bedroom on the first floor and two on the second. Each has an en-suite bathroom with shower (no tubs), and there's a half-bath on the first floor. There's a large living room with a big TV (for some reason, my dad loves to watch TV while on vacation) and each bedroom has a smaller TV. A large number of VHS tapes was supplied. There were also quite a lot of books. There's a sizeable dining room

The kitchen is quite decent and stocked with cooking equipment and crockery, including a microwave, coffemaker, blender, etc.. The fridge was stocked with a 6-pack each of Coke and Sol and had a large number of full ice trays in the freezer, and there was a basket of snacks on the counter. A gas grill is provided outside, though we didn't use it. There's a large dispenser for purified water and pitchers in each bathroom for the same. We're restaurant people when on-island, but it would easily be feasible to feed a whole tribe by cooking in the kitchen. We made micheladas, pina coladas, mojitos, etc. every evening and there was plenty of bartending equipment (except for a muddler for mojitos, but where have you ever seen one in a rental place?) including a lime juicer and shot glasses.

There was a fairly complete, hotel-style binder with house instructions, local information including restaurants, etc. A very nice touch was a stack of laminated cards with a picture of the house and its address and phone number which were handy for showing cab drivers until we memorized the address. Beach towels were supplied as well as bath towels. There's an electronic safe. The house has one phone and a wireless broadband router. The living room and each bedroom has a mini-split air conditioner, all of which worked well.

The house is nicely decorated with artwork. The paint and ironwork are in good condition, and everything was spotlessly clean. Water pressure was quite good, and we never ran out of hot water for showers.

Outside, there's a nice pool, an outdoor shower, and several lounges as well as a table and chairs near the pool. A dunk tank for scuba gear is provided, as is locked, ventilated gear storage with a PVC drying rack. There are several coconut palms with ripe coconuts (Pro tip 1: when buying a machete at the local hardware store, buy a file to sharpen it as well since they come dull as heck. Pro tip 2: a dive knife takes almost as long to hack through a coconut as a dull machete.) Each of the upstairs bedrooms opens onto a balcony that overlooks the street. There's also a large upstairs patio. Perfect for topless sunbathing or whatever.

There's daily maid service. For people who want to do laundry on their vacation, there's a washer and dryer.

There's on-island staff for issues that need to be addressed in person. We had an issue with the phone and he came by to work on it. At the end of the stay he also helped us get "checked out" and got us set up with a cab.

My parents really liked the house, and they're the ones who spent the most time there. We liked it, too, but for our family of 3 the place would be way too big.

Owner's comment: There's a mojito muddler now, a Blu-Ray player, and new phones. I wrote this review 3 years before buying the house...
